A bandit mage's portal tore Kael out of the pass above Karth and dropped him in the Sown Expanse — a land where fertility is magic, potent men are vanishingly rare, and the Primordial Bloom decides who matters.
He arrived a mercenary. The Bloom has other plans.
The Bloom has waited generations
Kael was paid to walk a noblewoman's caravan through the foothills above Karth. He was not paid for the mage in the bandit backline, or for the portal that opened underneath him. He fell out of one world and into the Sown Expanse, where the air itself is thick with fertility magic and a man's worth is measured in a currency he never knew he had.
The Expanse is not kind about it. Priests, petitioners, merchants and fools crowd every road to Seedblossom. Noble houses would like to own him before the throne notices. And in the living castle at the centre of it all, Queen Seraphine V holds a court with no consort and no heir.
Do not let a noble convince you that scarcity makes you property.
